Michael Jackson's PYT - Your Pop Classic Which Has Banded Quality of One's Time

By Mark Turgeon

The 1983 lp "Thriller" not just ranks as being the best selling cd of them all, but in addition as among the most clever. It was the production that presented Michael Jackson from Motown youngster entertainer into global super star and pop star. The lp generated hit after remarkable hit, like the last single produced, "PYT" (Pretty Young Thing).

This specific important and favorite tune was the 6th single launched from "Thriller" to achieve the Billboard chart's top 10, and would go on to become among Michael's most beloved songs. Michael Jackson's "PYT" being released as being a single proved to be an appropriate selection to complete the album's unparalleled accomplishment.

Michael Jackson's "PYT" didn't become the smash hit via the artist's endeavors alone. The idea was written originally by the King of Pop, and then reworked by soul artist James Ingram and creator Quincy Jones to produce the song more up-tempo. Michael and Quincy Jones were regular collaborators, and their endeavors on 1983's "Thriller" turned out to be their most successful.

Even though the two often butted heads when it found musical direction, the final results were always extraordinary. The single includes sisters Janet and Latoya Jackson on background vocals, including parroting "na na na" back to Michael in the end of the tune.

The last launch through the mega-hit "Thriller", Michael Jackson's "PYT" was already released on September 19, 1983. Though the infectious tune failed to get the success as previous singles through the lp, it did manage to attain number Ten on the Billboard Hot One hundred and number Forty six on the R&B charts in the us.

As was usually the case, Michael Jackson's reputation has not been limited to America, and the track also received hit status throughout the world. Between the amazing successes is the fact the track achieved number 6 in Belgium, number 13 in Holland and number 14 in the Netherlands.

A tribute towards the respect and fondness Michael Jackson engendered amongst his fellow musicians is how frequently his songs were sampled and covered. Michael Jackson's "PYT" became no exception. Musician Monica used vocals through the initial demo that did not make final track on her 2002 single "All Eyes on Me".

In a fantastic gesture that has proven to everyone of the graciousness and generosity of the King of Pop, Michael even hand-delivered an original masters to Monica rather than simply delivering them along. The particular track would also carry on being covered or sampled by artist Kanye West on his 2007 single "Good Life."
