This out-of-phase problem is not something I hadn't heard about before. Prior to purchasing the 180's I read reviews to the extent they existed (the 180's are a new product) and found a review where this problem was pointed out.
This is one of those right at the top. Sound is SUPERIOR to my new 42 LED/LCD TV. I have not heard any interference or distortion due to it being wireless. These are the best wireless headphones ever.
So far I have gone a few rooms nearby. They are just crystal clear all the time. If I did this, I could not hear the TV. The Sennheiser RD180 has solved all our problems.
This makes it impossible for me to use them in this way. Since I have hearing issues and is why I buy earphones, I really can't use them for one purpose that is very important to me. I would still recommend these headphones even with the few negatives it has. With what really counts for me is quality construction, comfort and excellent sound reproduction, these headphones have it.
I recommend printing out the relevant pages from the PDF manual. Sound quality is good; however I only use them to watch movies or TV programs. However, the headphones and base don't seem to be constructed with particularly high-quality materials. The plastic feels light and thin -- which could be a positive, but makes me, wonder whether they could break easily.
The batteries last about the rated 24 hours before requiring a recharge. You do get about a half hour of warning that the batteries are getting close to being discharged. They do not dwell on the surround sound capability. But, I have found the surround sound to be incredible. These are open phones and provide absolutely no isolation from ambient noise. If you want sound isolation, consider the Sennheiser RS 170 closed wireless phones; also sold on Amazon.
Once I got used to them, it's fairly easy to adjust without hitting the power button. These headphones are exactly what I wanted and I'm so glad they are lossless so I can listen to my music at CD quality. The room in many cases is dark due to the fact that I am watching TV and my wife has gone to bed. The range of transmission is great no problems working and walking around the house. Here's a quick review for you. The quality is absolutely great, and the range is incredible.
