It is amazing to watch the development of a child's relationship with his parents. At an early age, the child mimics his parents' every move. He says the same things his parents say and does the same things his parents do. In other words, he becomes a mini version of his parents. But as he grows older, things may begin to change. Outside influences such as television, popular music and pressure from his friends can alter his way of thinking.
Jesus died, went to hell and was resurrected by the Father so that you and I could have eternal life in heaven and abundant life on earth. He gave you the authority to do the same works that He did during His earthly ministry. You've been given the power to raise the dead, heal the sick and speak to circumstances and watch them change. The question is, what are you doing with your power?
To not partake of the authority that rightfully belongs to you is to forfeit an important part of your salvation. In Mark 16:17-18 (AMP), Jesus says, "And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well. " You have dominion over the enemy! That was one of the benefits that was purchased for you on Calvary.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in you (Ephesians 1:19-20). When you accepted Jesus as your Lord, you were adopted into God's family; resurrection power was imparted to your spirit. It is now up to you to draw that power out.
To determine whether or not you're walking in the Spirit, examine your thoughts. Basically, your thoughts are a reflection of what you know. The question is, What do you know? Do you know what the world says, or do you know what the Word says? When it comes to your finances, for example, do you know what the world says about making money, or do you know what God says-that He has given you the power to obtain wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18)? When it comes to your health, are you convinced of a doctor's diagnosis of sickness, or are you confident that by Jesus' stripes you have already been healed (Isaiah 53:5)? What do you know?
Constantly meditating and acting on what you believe is the only way to develop the faith necessary to do these greater works. Hearing God's voice and instantly obeying Him are also keys to positioning yourself for mighty exploits in the kingdom of God.
