So how does one guard yourself against this winter pathogen, what can you do to inoculate yourself like having a flu injection for the mind This manuscript shows you 5 ways to do so and keep yourself in top form.

1. Avoid reading papers and watching those 24 hour reports channels, they exist to carry surprising and negative news to keep you coming back for more.

2. Don't be drawn into negative conversations with others, the smart way to do this is not to say anything or reply when folks criticise, as if you did not even hear it.

3. Look for the silver lining in any situation, do not be drawn into the negative, rather say do you know that's good because As an example, that's good because it means we'll do it better next time.

4. Focus on what you do desire, not what you don't. A great way of doing this is through the use of goal setting, which naturally should be written down. These winter months are a wonderful time for planning for the next year.

5. Surround yourself with happy out going people just as you can catch a negative pathogen you can catch one that make you super human. How would you act if you felt invincible, how would things be different?

So wrap up warm and protect yourself from those that unwittingly would have you catch the winter blues. Sure the nights maybe darker and colder, but your future is equally as bright.

Reach for the healthy food instead

Take it or leave it but the definition of a healthy body depends on who you talk to, the media's definition of a healthy body is the one most people associate with; for women it's slender, flat-bellied, and leggy while still being hourglass shaped- think Barbie. Men on the other hand are to be sculpted through the arms, with broad shoulders and chiseled abs with the perfect V-shaped torso.

There is no one on the planet who does not succumb to the bombardment of TV commercials, billboards, magazines, and movies where advertisers are telling us the way we should look, and has warped our perceptions of looking good verses feeling good, and being healthy.

Unfortunately many women and men are turning to cosmetic surgery for a quick fix only to find that the results do not last, why, because if you don't change the behavior you can't really change the outcome.

While Barbie doesn't represent a healthy body image, our society does reward those more attractive, from getting a job or being promoted to being picked for a team in gym class to finding romantic partners. So what happens to a person who does not fit into the "ideal" body image? People suffer from poor body image which can lead to depression which sadly leads to weight gain. "If you're overly self-critical and self-doubting you will only exacerbate your efforts to lose weight and get in shape," states Carlie, a medical physician from Florida.

Best body for success is the one you fall in love with, your own body. Take some time and list what you like about your body, then make a mental shift to notice what your body does for you- can you walk, talk, eat...now go back and add to the list of what you like about your body.

The next month go one step further and set a goal as to how many "highlights" you will make and reward yourself at the end of the month if you have reached your goal, should you fall short, don't give up try again. Should negativity creep in, talk to someone you admire and seek out some of the ways they have maintained their healthy body image, and never give up.

Going to your favourite band or artist's live concert wouldn't just be like a walk in the park. Untoward events may happen that can catch you off guard and leave you unsatisfied and disappointed with the whole experience. This is basically the reason why you should do some preparations before heading to live concerts and live gigs.

You start your prepping at your house, before heading to the concert. Topping the list is choosing clothes to wear. If the venue of the concert is an auditorium or a closed hall, then most likely, there's a required outfit. This is very important especially if there's an outfit requirement in the building or venue.

This might just be reason why you'll not be able to enter the concert venue. If the venue of the event is an open area, then you can opt to wear casual clothing. Just keep in mind that comfort is your priority here.

School Plan? Is it working for you?

As today marked the start of another school year for our 11 & 14 year old and our 19 year returns to State University, it made me ponder the "School Plan."

Now before I go on, I should give my most honest disclaimer - I am an advocate of the great importance of the primary and secondary education system. I have a Bachelor's degree and my husband possesses his MBA.

Myself as a parent, my parents and their parents all advocated the "School Plan" to lead to long-term financial freedom.

Let's break this down to its most basic parts: Money. Time. Energy.

Money - School Expense, varies from public primary + public secondary to private = $40-$350K

Time - School takes 20-26 years + working in a job for 40 years

Energy - 40-50 hours per week working a traditional job

Are you aware that 95% of the US population is unable to create financial flexibility? This can be attributed to failed retirement accounts, government cutbacks, stock market highs & lows - but whatever the reason...a lot of years and money invested with minimal long term stability with no independence within the timeline we hoped - the number of retired people do you see working at WalMart or your local grocery store? How would you rate this investment?

What if there was an alternative plan that can start at 18 or 55? Get in early, or start after you tried the "Job Plan" and realized it doesn't have any freedom. A plan that can be done concurrently while the traditional "Job Plan" is still being pursued. Let's go back to those basics: Money. Time. Energy.

The best way to start your self-improvement journey is by setting your goals and objectives.

There is a lot to think about when it comes to setting your goals and objectives.

Do some deep thinking and brainstorming before you set your goals and be sure that they will fulfil the ambitions you have for your self development.

Even if this will take some time, it is time well spent because it will increase the chances that you will reach your goals.

If you follow the simple advice below, your process of goal-setting will be much easier.

It is important to be clear on what you wish to achieve. Being vague as you set your goals will only confuse you as to what it is exactly that you want or need to accomplish. Avoid being so abstract or imprecise, since this can only contribute to much time wasted on how to fully succeed. A lot of time and effort will be wasted if you don't specify your intentions. It doesn't matter whether you're looking for success in love, career, finances, etc.; you will want to keep in mind that being meticulous and detailed in your plans can go a long way to achieving them for good.

If you set unrealistic goals, you will not be able to fulfill them and this will destroy the whole self-development process. It is OK to aim high, but not unrealistically high. If you are out of a job with no savings, it is no use to set goals which you need millions to reach. Better first set the goals for how to get the millions.

Be as timely as possible. Setting a proper schedule on how, when and where you'll be attempting to achieve your goals makes it even more viable to attain some success. Give yourself a time frame to follow. If you're hoping to lose a number of pounds, determine just how much time it will take for you to do that and work on it. With deadlines being set, it helps avoid succumbing to laziness and giving you a sense of urgency in actually fulfilling your objectives. Apart from that, it will keep you quite motivated to strive hard in achieving the success you've so long desired for your goals.

The three tips above are important but of course not all you have to think about. There are many resources you can find for free on the Internet that will give you more tips. Remember, if you follow a method when you set your goals, you will increase their quality and the chances for you to reach them.

So What's Really Hampering You Now?

Ever had a sense of being held back from where you need to be, that you are not being allowed to achieve your total potential?

That's good, as it shows you wish to be somewhere, those feelings of obstacles or obstructions in the way is only there to tell you that you're supposed to be somewhere and you?re on a journey.

Some people see these obstructions as challenges that make sure they know they are on the right trail. Safe in the knowledge that they're going to find a way over or round it somehow, they carry on towards your dreams.

Other people however walk around carrying their stumbling blocks around as millstones around their neck, coloring their every move and decision.

Another group of folks will choose never to ever ever try, so that they never fail, retreating to the security and safety of ?it may work for them, nevertheless it will never work for me?

Whilst it's a commonly held belief that more time, additional cash, more knowledge is what you're lacking, in truth it is generally more self-confidence and more action in the direction that you would like to travel that is required.

So it's not so much what's out there that holds us back, but rather what is in us that does. Our mind-set repeated and determined actions dictate our likelihood of success more than our circumstances or there wouldn't be such a thing as poverty to wealth story?

You can either pass the time focusing on all the stuff that didn't go your way, the set backs you encountered, and the possibilities you missed; Or you realize that within every set back or failure lies the seed of a larger success or opportunity.

Because as the boxing saying says, It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get back up'. The choice is down to you, stay down and chuck in the towel, or realize like Edison inventing the lightbulb, you just found another way of not doing it, and you can bring the light to the world.

What is the most deadly psychological disorder today? If you guessed an eating disorder, then you are right. According to WebMD, eating disorders are illnesses that cause a person to adopt harmful eating habits. So, does this make WebMD just a great resource, or is this really true, and is an eating disorder really a dangerous illness? Most sufferers of an eating disorder are often mocked about their problem, and they are not taken seriously. People should not misinterpret or disbelieve sufferers of an eating disorder because it is, in fact, a very serious illness. There are, however, minor cases of eating disorders but there are far too many deaths related to them, thus we must take this issue very seriously and approach it with care.

At Center for Change, we have asked many patients over the years to share from their private experiences what the Holidays have been like during the years they suffered with an eating disorder. The women quoted in this article are of different ages, but all suffered with the illness for many years. As you read the following passages you will feel something of the agony of suffering with an eating disorder at this festive time of year.

"Unlike any other normal teenager, I always hated it when the holiday season would roll around. It meant that I would have to face my two worst enemies - food and people, and a lot of them. I always felt completely out of place and such a wicked child in such a happy environment. I was the only person who didn't love food, people, and celebrations. Rather, holidays for me were a celebration of fear and isolation. I would lock myself in my room. Maybe no one else gained weight over the holidays, but just the smell of food added weight to my body. My anorexia destroyed any happiness or relationships I could possibly have had." -Nineteen-year-old woman

"The holiday season is always the most difficult time of year in dealing with my eating disorder. Holidays, in my family, tend to center around food. The combination of dealing with the anxiety of being around family and the focus on food tends to be a huge trigger for me to easily fall into my eating disorder behaviors. I need to rely on outside support to best cope with the stresses of the holidays." -Twenty-one-year-old woman

Some of the painful consequences of binge eating and bulimia are found in the time, planning, and dishonesty that is required to protect and cover up their eating disorder during the holidays. They often feel hatred for themselves for the ongoing deception to family and friends to excuse or explain their behaviors. In addition, they live in constant fear of being "found out" by their significant others, or in fear of continually letting others down because of their inability to stop their compulsive behaviors. Family and Friends - Turning Potential Triggers into Gifts of Support Holiday ideals epitomize what is good about family and other personal relationships. Activities during this time of year can involve family members and friends in intense and often emotional ways. Unfortunately, those with eating disorders can find it terrifying to be emotionally close with other people. In such situations they may feel vulnerable and unsafe, and then revert to their eating disorder to restore a sense of control and self-protection.

So many celebrities suffer and have died from eating disorders. Singer Karen Carpenter was struggling with anorexia and bulimia and after she went to treatment for years, everyone thought that she had recovered and was doing better. After that, she was found dead on the bathroom floor in her parent's house. She had a heart attack and it was said that the result of it was because she had abused the drug Ipecac for years. Ipecac is a liquid that is used to induce vomiting, and it is often abused by anorexics and bulimics.

According to the South Carolina Department of Health, about seven million American women and one million American men have an eating disorder. About one in every two hundred women in America has anorexia, and about two or three out of one hundred women have bulimia. About half of Americans know at least one person who has an eating disorder. According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, about 5% to 10% of people diagnosed with anorexia will die within 10 years of having the disease, about 18% to 20% of people will be dead after having the disease for 20 years and only 30% to 40% of people will recover from it. It is very scary fact that the rate of mortality for people with anorexia is twelve times higher than the rate of death of all of the causes of death for females from 15 to 24 years old. (South Carolina Department of Health). Nearly 20% of the people who have anorexia will die prematurely from health problems and heart problems due to their eating disorder. About 95% of people with an eating disorder are between the ages of 12 and 25, about 50% of females between the ages of 11 and 13 see themselves as overweight, and around 80% of 13 year old's have, at some point, tried to lose weight. It is a very sad fact that over 80% of females who have made an effort to go get treatment for their eating disorder, have not received the full treatment that they need in order to fully recover. This often leads to the disorder reoccurring and to the patients hurting their health even more. Obviously, eating disorders are really serious and they should be treated as soon as possible.
